Life-changing care close to home as Caboolture Hospital launches cancer service<\/h1>\n

Andrew Mansfield, 55-year-old Caboolture local, can now get care closer to home.<\/p><\/div>\n

Moreton Bay residents can now access cancer treatment closer to home, with the new cancer care services now available at Caboolture Hospital, including a day chemotherapy unit.<\/h4>\n

Patients requiring chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other supportive cancer treatments can now access care close to home for the first time, eliminating the need for lengthy travel to other health facilities.<\/p>\n

Until now, many local patients faced journeys of up to three hours to receive essential treatment.<\/p>\n

The new service also supports patients with non-malignant blood disorders, ensuring a broader group of community members benefit from improved access to specialised care.<\/p>\n

Delivering high-quality cancer treatment locally allows patients to spend less time travelling and more time focusing on their health, surrounded by family and support networks.<\/p>\n

Andrew Mansfield, a 55-year-old Caboolture local, can now get care closer to home.<\/p>\n

Diagnosed in 2023 with colorectal cancer, Andrew was previously driving to and from North Lakes for his treatments.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing five minutes means my wife can drop me off and pick me up after treatment and I am home quickly,\u201d Andrew said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy cancer diagnosis has changed what is important in life.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s spending as much quality time with my wife, daughter and stepson, not wasting my energy on things that aren\u2019t important and living my life as normally as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caboolture Hospital Acting Executive Director Dr Ted Chamberlain said the opening of the unit marked a major step forward for cancer care in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to provide cancer treatment locally is a game changer for our patients and their families,\u201d Dr Chamberlain said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis service means less time on the road and more time focusing on recovery, comfort and connection with loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

The opening of the unit reflects the dedication and advocacy of the Cancer Care team, whose collaboration and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this much-needed service to Caboolture Hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
