Sir Joh Bjelke Peterson is Premier of Queensland and Bob Hawke is Prime Minister. Lindy Chamberlain has just been released from prison and Bananarama\u2019s Venus is on top of the music charts. It is also the year a group of like-minded community members come together to form a foundation to support The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH).<\/h4>\n<p>In 2026, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation (TPCHF) is celebrating 40 years of helping people live healthier for longer. During this time, it has contributed more than $78 million to fund groundbreaking research, vital equipment and patient care initiatives at TPCH and Caboolture Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>TPCH Executive Director Tami Photinos said the dedication of TPCH clinicians and researchers\u2014with support from the Foundation\u2014had changed the face of healthcare locally and further afield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s celebrations are more than just honouring a charity doing great work,\u201d Tami said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe TPCH Foundation helps us in many ways\u2014particularly research\u2014which helps us attract world-class research projects and research staff to TPCH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m continually inspired by the generosity and support our community has provided over the past 40 years and continues to do so.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6069\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6069\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6069 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/kilcoy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/02\/tpchf-40-years-tami.jpg\" alt=\"TPCH Executive Director Tami Photinos speaking at the Foundation's 40-year milestone event.\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/400;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6069\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TPCH Executive Director Tami Photinos speaking at the Foundation&#8217;s 40-year milestone event.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat support is helping us create a healthier future for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Foundation Chief Executive Officer Steve Francia said the community had stood alongside TPCHF to turn compassion into tangible outcomes for patients and their families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis 40 years milestone is a moment to reflect on what has been achieved together, but also to look ahead to what\u2019s possible when people continue to come together for the common good,\u201d Mr Francia said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur community can feel proud of what they\u2019ve helped build and being part of shaping the next 40 years of research, patient care and, ultimately, hope.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether, we can ensure that legacy continues for generations of patients to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of the 40-year celebrations will be the Jacaranda Gala in May, inspired by the iconic jacaranda trees that have stood alongside TPCH for generations.
