Kirsch and Kersha Jacobs<\/p><\/div>\n

Kirsch and Kersha Jacobs not only share a surname and a workplace at Caboolture Hospital, but also a life built across two countries and two careers in healthcare.<\/h4>\n

The pair met through a mutual friend who was struck by the coincidence of knowing two people with a similar and uncommon name. At the time, both were living in New Zealand, where their families had emigrated from South Africa.<\/p>\n

Intrigued by the rare connection, they agreed to meet\u2014a decision that would shape the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

Married in 2015, Kirsch and Kersha now have two daughters, both born at Caboolture Hospital\u2014the same hospital where they each play vital roles in supporting the local community.<\/p>\n

Inspired by her mother, a nurse, Kersha had long known she wanted to work in healthcare.<\/p>\n

Kersha joined Caboolture Hospital in 2013 as a senior social worker.<\/p>\n

She now supports patients and families through some of life\u2019s most challenging moments, helping them transition safely from hospital to their long-term homes. While the demands of allied health mean the couple rarely share lunch breaks, Kersha values knowing her husband is close by.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s reassuring to know Kirsch is around if I ever need to talk,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking in the same hospital means we both understand the complexities and challenges of healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n

After relocating to Australia, Kirsch explored several roles before deciding to pursue a career change. He worked in aged care for four years before securing a temporary clinical assistant position in the physiotherapy team at Caboolture Hospital in 2017. He has since moved into a permanent role within the Physiotherapy Department.<\/p>\n

Working primarily with geriatric patients, Kirsch says no two days are the same. He credits the strength of the Allied Health team for navigating the pressures of a busy hospital environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven when things are challenging, we band together and make it work,\u201d Kirsch said.<\/p>\n
