We’re renovating and refurbishing parts of Redcliffe Hospital

For more than 40 years now, Redcliffe Hospital has been caring for its community.  As our community continues to grow and change, we’re upgrading, renovating, and refurbishing the hospital’s facilities and supporting infrastructure.

The next major project to get underway will be renovation and upgrade to our Day Procedure Unit and other facilities on Level 2 of the hospital.

The hospital is working hard to limit the impact that all of these building and renovation works will have on our patients, visitors, and staff.

There will however still be some impacts, particularly to our Emergency Department, because it’s directly below the renovation works on Level 2.

Importantly, the Emergency Department at Redcliffe Hospital will remain open 24/7.  For the next few months however, our Emergency Department could be busier, and noisier than usual.

All patients who come to our Emergency Department will be seen, but if it’s not an emergency, it may take longer than usual.

Emergency Departments are for emergencies. If it’s not an emergency, but you need medical advice, alternatives include making an appointment with your GP, or calling 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).

There are also emergency departments at Caboolture Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital at Chermside.

Redcliffe Hospital appreciates the understanding of our patients and community as we work to our hospital better for everyone.

So far, as part of this renovation and refurbishment, Redcliffe Hospital has opened three floors of new facilities in the Moreton Bay Integrated Care Centre, for our Cancer Care Service and Kidney Health Service.

Earlier this year, we built and opened a brand-new pathology laboratory, and completed renovations to Level 6 East of the hospital.

We’re in the middle of a project to replace and upgrade the electrical infrastructure across the hospital campus. This project will make our electricity supply more resilient, and support new, high tech medical equipment and facilities for decades to come.

Later this year, we’ll be starting work on upgrading and renovating our maternity unit, paediatrics ward, and our special care nursery.

Later this year too we expect early works will begin on our new multi-storey car park, with the main construction activities due to get underway in 2019.
