If you bring your baby into the bed make sure you tell a midwife and both bed rails are up.<\/p>\n<p>Please return your baby to the cot after feeding and cuddles. This is especially important when you are very tired and finding it difficult to stay awake. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rednose.com.au\/section\/safe-sleeping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Watch a short video on safe sleeping<\/a> from Red Nose.<\/p>\n<h2>Safety<\/h2>\n<p>For your baby\u2019s safety we advise that you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>do not leave your baby unattended on your bed<\/li>\n<li>only transport your baby in the cot<\/li>\n<li>avoid carrying your baby in your arms outside the ward area<\/li>\n<li>avoid drinking hot fluids while holding your baby.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Identification bands<\/h2>\n<p>In hospital, your baby has 3 pieces of identification. One on their back, one around their wrist and one around their ankle at all times. Please notify a staff member immediately if any of these become loose or fall off. If you are ever separated from your baby, your identification band is checked against your baby\u2019s once you are together again.<\/p>\n<h2>Hand hygiene<\/h2>\n<p>Wash your hands before touching or cuddling your baby.\u00a0 There are hand sanitisers throughout the hospital and in your room.
