Redcliffe Hospital’s Nurse of the Year for 2025, Fiona Moss.<\/p><\/div>\n

Redcliffe Hospital has named Clinical Nurse Consultant Fiona Moss as its Nurse of the Year for 2025.<\/h4>\n

A nurse at Redcliffe Hospital for more than 20 years, Fiona now plays a leading role in the hospital\u2019s Specialist Outpatients Department as an Orthopaedic CNC.<\/p>\n

Fiona wasn\u2019t able to attend the awards but was quickly informed of her success by a colleague.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was surprised to hear the news from a colleague congratulating me! After reading the nomination, I was overwhelmed by the detail in their comments and that they had taken the time to acknowledge my efforts formally,\u2019 Fiona said.<\/p>\n

Those who nominated Fiona provided a long list of reasons as to why she deserved the award.<\/p>\n

The nomination described Fiona as \u201calways happy, courteous, and professional\u201d and as a nurse who \u201cgoes above and beyond\u201d for her patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe advocates for each and every patient and uses her experience to help guide the department,\u201d the nomination reads.<\/p>\n

The nomination also spoke of her leadership among her colleagues too, helping to motivate doctors and other clinicians to bring their best selves to the care of patients in the Outpatients Department.<\/p>\n

\u201cFiona is now teaching other nurses and empowering them to upskill. Her core values are clear to see \u2026 and she should be applauded for all of her conscientious and high-level skilled work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fiona says that she was first inspired to become a nurse while caring for her grandmother many years ago, from there she began her career in nursing as a graduate nurse in 4 East at Redcliffe Hospital.<\/p>\n

The move from the ward to Outpatients came in 2017, when the hospital established a nurse-led clinic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI moved to the orthopaedic ward (6 West) at the end of 2003 and have worked in orthopaedics ever since,\u201d Fiona said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy the clinical variety that comes with orthopaedics and the long-standing comradery with colleagues.”<\/p>\n

When it comes to nurses just starting their careers, Fiona has some good advice too.<\/p>\n

\u201cFind strong mentors that challenge you and inspire you to learn and be better,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe senior nurses that were my mentors in the earlier times of my career still have an impact on me today.<\/p>\n
