\"JohnJohn Hammond is a big personality with an even bigger mission \u2013 to get as many people as possible to sign up for organ donation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The RBWH patient spent many months at RBWH after being diagnosed with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, an inherited disorder that can cause lung and liver disease. John has since received a liver transplant and is currently on the waiting list to receive a double lung transplant.<\/p>\n

Eternally grateful for the second chance at life that organ donors have provided him, John spent a week working at the Donate Life staff at RBWH. Here, he provided RBWH staff, patients and visitors with more information on organ donation and spoke to them about the priceless gift organ donors provide. The team from 9A South who cared for John for six and a half months came down to see him and register.<\/p>\n

Staying safe for World Infection Prevention Week<\/h2>\n

The RBWH Infection Management and Prevention team have played an integral role advising our COVID-19 response over the past 18 months. Each year, World Infection and Prevention Control Week is celebrated during the third week in October, and this year the team held an interactive display on the Level 2 walkway. Staff received information on how to best prevent the spread of infection in their work areas and had the opportunity to talk to the experts about keeping everyone safe.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
