Uncle Barry is eternally grateful to Aimee and the team who saved his life<\/p><\/div>\n

RBWH\u2019s clinicians are always ready to save lives, even when they\u2019re off the clock!<\/h4>\n

RBWH nurse facilitator Aimee Holdsworth was attending a friend\u2019s graduation ceremony in October 2021 when her day took a dramatic turn. One of the fellow attendees, Indigenous Elder Uncle Barry, had gone into cardiac arrest. Aimee and a team of bystanders quickly swung into action, performing CPR and delivering three shocks via an automated external defibrillator before paramedics arrived to transport Uncle Barry to hospital.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the quick action of Aimee and the other bystanders, Uncle Barry has made a full recovery and was recently reunited with the people who gave him a second chance at life to express his heartfelt thanks.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a registered nurse within an acute hospital setting, we rarely get to see what happens to the people we care for after they leave our ward or hospital,\u201d said Aimee.<\/p>\n
