We provide care to people with complex and specialised geriatric and rehabilitation needs.<\/p>\n<p>We specialise in care for people who need rehabilitation after a disabling illness or injury. Our service works closely with other services, such as allied health, to ensure patients are given the best opportunity to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n<p>We also provide specialised care for older people. Our aim is to help patients regain movement and the ability to function as independently as possible.<\/p>\n","conditions_treated":"","our_services":"<p>Our services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General rehabilitation ward<\/li>\n<li>Geriatric evaluation and management ward<\/li>\n<li>Day Rehabilitation Unit<\/li>\n<li>Orthogeriatric service (inpatient service for elderly patients after trauma, falls and fractures) located at RBWH<\/li>\n<li>Specialist outpatient clinics including memory clinic, geriatric assessment, rehabilitation assessment, falls and hypertonicity clinics located at the Day Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Geriatric and Rehabilitation Liaison Service provides advice and guidance to services across the hospital and at outside facilities. This service is located at RBWH \u00b7 rehabilitation engineering to provide advice, build or modify assistive technology and mobility equipment to suit patients\u2019 personal needs, and<\/li>\n<li>access to a fully equipped gym and special purpose therapy areas for inpatients and outpatients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The services provided by the former Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit (Rosemount Campus, Windsor) and the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit (RBWH, Herston) are now co-located at STARS. Your referral will be triaged and prioritised and you will be informed of the appointment date and time via an appointment booking letter or we will contact you to arrange a suitable time for your appointment.<\/p>\n<h3>Inpatient referral<\/h3>\n<p>You can also access this service when you are staying in hospital or if you have been referred by an RBWH \/ MNHHS clinician. We accept referrals from the hospital you are admitted to through Geriatric and Rehabilitation Liaison Service of that hospital.
