Operations will ramp-up for STARS from early 2021.<\/p>\n<h2>Our care<\/h2>\n<p>The facility is designed to provide a range of new and expanded healthcare services to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase access to specialist rehabilitation services, elective surgery and endoscopy services<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the number of sub-acute rehabilitation patients being treated in acute beds<\/li>\n<li>Meet the growing demand for specialist rehabilitation services<\/li>\n<li>Ensure more patients have access to services within clinically recommended timeframes<\/li>\n<li>Reduce patient wait times for specialist rehabilitation and elective surgery and endoscopy services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With 100 beds for rehabilitation, STARS is set to become one of the largest specialist rehabilitation services in the southern hemisphere.<\/p>\n<p>Low complexity, elective, short stay surgical procedures will be available across a range of targeted speciality areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ears, Nose and throat (ENT)<\/li>\n<li>General surgery<\/li>\n<li>Ophthalmology<\/li>\n<li>Orthopaedics<\/li>\n<li>Urology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h2>Our team<\/h2>\n<p>Meet our dedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/stars\/about-us\/executive-team\">executive team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><h2>Our performance<\/h2>\n<p>We publish information about how our hospital is performing on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.performance.health.qld.gov.au\/view-performance-by-facility\/hospitals\/surgical-treatment-and-rehabilitation-service\">Queensland Health Our Performance website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll find information about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>beds and staff we have at each hospital<\/li>\n<li>how many people we see in our emergency and specialists departments<\/li>\n<li>waiting times for appointments and treatment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h2>Our partnerships and collaborative community<\/h2>\n<p>Metro North Health and The University of Queensland (UQ) formally established the to embed education and research with clinical care in STARS.<\/p>\n<p>Located at the <a href=\"https:\/\/herstonhealthprecinct.com.au\/\">Herston Health Precinct<\/a>, STARS is part of a collaborative community home to more than 30 health facilities, medical research institutes, universities and organisations.
