New SMS service provides back-pocket alcohol and drug support<\/h1>\n

Kiara is the Director of Adis 24\/7 Alcohol and Drug Support.<\/p><\/div>\n

For over 30 years, Adis 24\/7 Alcohol and Drug Support has serviced Queenslanders by providing anonymous support through a simple phone call.<\/h4>\n

While the team continues to respond to over 2000 calls a month, they now have a new SMS support program, as a \u2018soft entry point\u2019 for people who may not be ready to reach out, as well as providing extra help for someone going through treatment.<\/p>\n

Director Kiara said it often takes people a long time to reach out and ask for help, so an SMS program like this can bridge the gap for them and provide another layer of encouragement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a buddy in your back pocket, where you can set the time of day you want to receive messages and you\u2019ll get extra communications to help you on your journey, such as substance education or strategies to manage a craving,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are always looking for new and innovative ways to reach people and help them.”<\/p>\n

The SMS support program offers three programs varying in lengths, including a 30-day program where those who opt in will get two messages a day and a 14-day program to provide additional support to someone going through withdrawal\/detox.<\/p>\n

There is also a weekend tips program which can provide some support over the weekends from Friday evening to Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Those opting into the SMS support service can choose when they would like to receive their messages at a time when they most need some motivation.<\/p>\n
