risk of Australian Bat Lyssavirus<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Metro North Public Health Unit is recommending anyone who had contact with a bat yesterday near Southern Cross Catholic College, King Street Woody Point to seek medical attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday 17 March 2025, a bat was found on the ground near the school and given to a bat care organisation by a member of the public.<\/p>\n<p>The bat later died and was not able to be tested for Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV).<\/p>\n<p>All bats have the potential to carry ABLV.<\/p>\n<p>ABLV infection is fatal to humans and transmitted through bites or scratches from infected bats;
