The Prince Charles Hospital welcomes 25 new doctors

The Prince Charles Hospital’s new junior doctors

With the New Year now upon us, 25 medical interns will kick off 2018 by joining The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) as doctors.

TPCH Executive Director Anthony Williams congratulated the new starters on beginning their careers, and welcomed them to the hospital.

He said the hospital was renowned for its world-leading cardiac and emergency care, making TPCH a dream facility to kick off a stellar journey in medicine.

“I am very excited to welcome 25 new members to our Charlies family,” Mr Williams said.

“Their choice reflects how sought after the opportunities are here at TPCH.

“Many of our services are internationally renowned and it’s very exciting that we have new faces contributing to the hospital’s legacy.”

TPCH interns join a Metro North Hospital and Health Service cohort of 163, alongside 94 interns at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital; 27 at Redcliffe Hospital and 17 at Caboolture Hospital.

The new interns are participating in a week-long orientation program to familiarise themselves with each hospital, its services and clinical practice and procedures before beginning rotations through a variety of units that may include general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine and additional elective terms in other specialised areas.

The interns have graduated from universities across Queensland and are part of a larger group of 749 new doctors who are taking up positions at Queensland Health hospitals across the state.
