Post-surgical care is provided in addition to management of diagnoses such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>arthritis<\/li>\n<li>carpal tunnel syndrome<\/li>\n<li>radial nerve palsy<\/li>\n<li>fractures and dislocations<\/li>\n<li>post-surgical care<\/li>\n<li>De Quervain\u2019s tenosynovitis<\/li>\n<li>Dupuytren\u2019s contracture<\/li>\n<li>mallet finger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Paediatric Outpatient Services<\/h3>\n<p>We provide occupational therapy services to children up to the age of 16 years.\u00a0Services include assessment and short term intervention for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>behavioural toileting (constipation and urinary incontinence)<\/li>\n<li>feeding<\/li>\n<li>developmental, motor and sensory concerns impacting upon childhood occupations such as self-care, play, school, and social and leisure activity<\/li>\n<li>fractures and dislocations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Occupational therapy assessment is also provided within a team of health professionals to support the assessment and diagnosis of children who\u00a0come to hospital with complex emotional and behavioural issues in conjunction with a medical concern.\u00a0Issues requiring ongoing or long-term support will be referred to community-based services.\u00a0These services are only available to children who have been referred by a hospital paediatrician.<\/p>\n<h3>Leisure Therapy Services<\/h3>\n<p>Leisure Therapy aims to enhance your leisure pursuits and independence in regards to your leisure lifestyle.\u00a0Services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>assessment and re-training of leisure functional skills<\/li>\n<li>assessment and re-training of community integration and community participation skills (community access and transport re-training)<\/li>\n<li>education on lifestyle changes, leisure barriers, leisure supports and leisure planning<\/li>\n<li>leisure counselling<\/li>\n<li>multidisciplinary groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Hand and Upper Limb Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>Our Occupational therapists provide inpatient and outpatient services\u00a0to help restore optimal function of your upper limb.<\/p>\n<p>We have a range of <a href=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/tpch\/healthcare-services\/occupational-therapy\/hand-and-upper-limb-clinic\">resources to help your recovery<\/a>.<\/p>\n"}]}]}],"accessing_this_service":[{"variation":"freetext","free_text":"<p>Occupational Therapy services are available if you are a patient in one of the hospital wards, if you are attending the Rehabilitation Day Therapy Unit or if you have been referred by a hospital clinician. Outpatient services are provided for hand therapy for patients under the care of a hospital medical officer. Children\u2019s services are available based on referrals made by paediatricians at the
