This exciting project includes new and expanded adult and paediatric emergency departments, operating theatres, at least 93 additional beds including paediatric beds, and will result in TPCH becoming the second largest paediatric service in Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion will deliver better services for the people of Brisbane, making sure they can receive healthcare faster and closer to home.<\/p>\n<p>TPCH Expansion will deliver significant improvements to the hospital campus and will support our healthcare service to meet the growing needs of the local community.<\/p>\n<h2>What we\u2019re building<\/h2>\n<p>The Prince Charles Hospital expansion includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 93 new overnight beds<\/li>\n<li>A new, fully developed plan that meets Hospital and Health Service and clinical needs<\/li>\n<li>Services including a new emergency department, paediatrics and operating theatres<\/li>\n<li>Staged execution to keep the project on track<\/li>\n<li>Better use of the site, leveraging nearby facilities and infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Timeline<\/h2>\n<p>Queensland Health, in partnership with Metro North Health, is delivering TPCH Expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The following works have already been completed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Building 50 (home to Allied Health, Nursing and Medical administration functions) completed<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 2025<\/strong> \u2013 New Gathering Garden completed<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Health is currently capturing its clinical priorities and developing a staging plan following the release of the Queensland Government\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plan.health.qld.gov.au\/\">Hospital Rescue Plan<\/a>\u00a0in April 2025.<\/p>\n<p>An updated project timeline will be provided once the plan is finalised.<\/p>\n<h2>Why we&#8217;re expanding<\/h2>\n<p>Based on 2023 data, The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) is the largest hospital catchment in Metro North with the second busiest Emergency Department in Queensland.\u00a0 The TPCH catchment also has the largest child population and is projected to grow (0.97% per annum) over the next 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Expanding The Prince Charles Hospital will make sure we meet the needs of our community, now and in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_4 1_4 fusion-one-fourth fusion-column-last rhs-col\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:25%;width:calc(25% -
