New car park opens at The Prince Charles Hospital<\/h1>\n

More car parking has opened at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) bringing more than 1500 new spaces and parking relief to patients, visitors and health workers.<\/h4>\n

In just over a week since opening, almost 14,000 vehicles have passed through the gates. This early uptake shows the value of the new car park to the campus.<\/p>\n

TPCH Executive Director Tami Photinos said that the new car park will reduce car parking pressures and make it more convenient for patients, visitors and staff coming to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new multi-storey car park has been built alongside the existing car park and brings the total number of multi-storey spaces to approximately 2,000,\u201d Tami said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA connecting ramp between the two buildings allows for easy vehicle access, creating a more seamless parking experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new car park includes 42 accessible parking spaces, with 10 spaces on the ground floor, 10 spaces on level two and 22 spaces for staff on level three, and spaces for motorcycling parking. It also has a 2.3 metre height clearance, compared to 2.1 metres in the existing car park.<\/p>\n

As part of the new car park features, number plate recognition is in place to provide with easier entry and exiting for staff with parking accounts.<\/p>\n

The cost to park ranges from $3 for one hour to a daily maximum rate capped at $13. Discounted rates apply for staff and concession parking is available for people who are experiencing financial hardship, attending frequently or over an extended period, or who have other special considerations.<\/p>\n

As the car park is owned and operated by Metro North, parking fees collected will go toward repaying the cost to build the car park as well as operational costs and maintenance.<\/p>\n

While the car park is now open, the express ramp providing staff direct access to level 3 and above, along with the link bridges between the two car parks, will be operational from early to mid August.<\/p>\n
