Submit a vacancy

IMPORTANT

The EOI Portal has changed to become a more automated platform for advertising vacancies. Recruitment Services will no longer approve most EOI Portal requests before advertising. All nursing/midwifery roles will still require approval from Recruitment Services before advertising.

These means all EOI’s submitted by Hiring Managers go live immediately. There is no review process, so please ensure your submissions are accurate.

Please contact the Metro North Recruitment Team prior to advertising if you have any questions about the process or policy requirements, ph: (07) 3646 1814 or email MetroNorthRecruitment@health.qld.gov.au.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) is used to fill higher duties, backfill opportunities, projects, any other short-term temporary engagements and entry level roles. Non-base grade vacancies over 6 months need to be advertised through Springboard using a Request to Hire.

Non-Frontline roles require approval from the MN Responsible Workforce Management Committee before advertising on the EOI Portal. Hiring Managers are required to upload the approval document when submitting a vacancy on the EOI Portal.

Use this form to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) vacancy. Metro North Recruitment Services will review the submission prior to posting on the list of current vacancies.

The EOI portal provides a central location for Metro North internal opportunities to be accessed and increases visibility and transparency of these opportunities.

Please note: vacancies advertised on the Smartjobs website are not duplicated on the EOI Portal. Applications for vacancies advertised on the Smartjobs website are managed through Springboard, while vacancies advertised on the EOI Portal are predominantly received via email.

An Internal Expression of Interest (OPTION 1) or a Role Description (OPTION 2) is required to internally advertise your temporary vacancy.

All nursing/midwifery roles require a Role Description (OPTION 2) to be uploaded NOT the internal expression of interest template.

OPTION 1: Download the Internal Expression of Interest template (DOCX).

  • Right click on the link above
  • Chose “Save link as”

Complete the template and save AS A WORD DOC (.doc or .docx) – you will need to upload it with your request.

OR

OPTION 2: Download the Role Description template (DOCX) from the Metro North Recruitment QHEPS page.

  • Right click on the link above
  • Chose “Save link as”

Check the contact details, submission method (ensure submission is via email) and status of the role are correct (e.g. Temporary full time up to 12 months). This option is mandatory for Nursing/Midwifery roles.

Complete role description and save AS A WORD DOC (.doc or .docx) – you will need to upload it with your request.

Complete the submission form below.

Be sure to complete all the required fields and attach all required documents.

Metro North Recruitment Services will review your submission and either:

  • Approve it for advertising, or
  • Contact you to discuss changes.

Hiring managers are required to obtain approval from their local Vacancy Management Committee (QHEPS only link) before submitting a request on the EOI portal.

Depending on your request type, subsequent approval may also be required before you can progress with advertising on the EOI portal.

Please refer to the Responsible Workforce Management flowcharts and Frequently Asked Questions available on the Recruitment (QHEPS only link) site for more information.

When submitting an EOI request on the portal, please make sure to attach the appropriate approval.

Hiring Manager Factsheet

How do I assess an Expression of Interest?

As with all selections for appointment in the Queensland Public Service, an assessment of EOI applications is to be based on merit alone.

The Merit Principle is the “extent to which the person has the abilities, aptitude, skills, qualifications, knowledge, experience and personal qualities relevant to the carrying out of the duties in question”.

If relevant, merit may also involve considering:

  • the way in which the person carried out any previous employment or occupational duties, and
  • the extent to which the person has potential for development

Therefore, you must take the whole picture into account rather than simply basing your decision on factors such as qualification alone or length of employment with Queensland Health.

Organisational fit is a key dimension of merit and allows us to determine whether candidates align to the Metro North Values.

A merit-based process is still required with a minimum of two selection techniques, one of which must be a referee report. This applies regardless of the duration of the temporary contract.

Providing feedback to applicants

Post-selection feedback is an important phase of the selection process and assists applicants in their preparation for future job applications. Feedback must be provided in a timely manner and be factual, constructive and sensitive.

Remember the following:

  • Verbally advise those who were shortlisted but not successful of the outcome of the process.
  • Advise all unsuccessful applicants either by phone or email.
  • Remember that survey feedback shows a perception of favouritism in recruitment processes.
  • All applicants seeking post-selection feedback should be afforded constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  • Prepare your feedback responses and remember to give examples of why the applicant did not meet merit.
  • Focus on the behaviours that were identified instead of personality traits.
  • Do not disclose other candidate information or performance.
  • Do not advise applicants what ranking they have achieved on the merit list, if you have one.
