Data Visualisation: What COVID-19 has taught us

From flattening the curve to logarithmic trajectories of cases and deaths, data visualisation in COVID-19 demonstrates its power.

This month’s presentation will explore the importance of good data visualisation and how this can be applied in routine clinical and health service settings.

You will be provided with real-world examples of this critical skillset underpinning the design of effective clinical dashboards and meaningful reports.

Ronald is an Emergency Senior House Officer and Digital Engagement Officer working at Gold Coast Health. He has completed further studies in Data Science and Clinical Redesign, as well as working in UX, design and frontend web development. He loves working at the intersection between digital and health, and is passionate about improving patient care and clinician workflows with technology.

Amanda Makulec is the Senior Data Visualization Lead at Excella and holds a Masters of Public Health from the Boston University School of Public Health. She worked with data in global health programs for eight years before joining Excella, where she leads teams and develops user-centered data visualization products for federal, non-profit, and private sector clients.
