Join us for a compelling presentation by Dr Hermann Oberli, an internationally experienced surgeon whose career spans Europe, the Pacific, and conflict-affected settings worldwide.

Drawing on decades of hands-on experience in low-resource environments, Dr Oberli will share insights from his work in the Solomon Islands, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening trauma and orthopaedic care during a period of significant civil unrest. His presentation explores the essential elements required to build and sustain effective trauma services in resource-limited settings, informed by lifelong learning across clinical, educational, and humanitarian contexts.

Dr Oberli’s career includes leadership roles in Switzerland, Afghanistan, Samoa, and over a decade at Honiara Hospital, as well as work with the ICRC, Swiss Red Cross, and Disaster Relief Corps. His ongoing commitment to improving trauma care in the Solomon Islands continues to influence practice today.

This session is open to medical, nursing, allied health, and academic colleagues, and offers valuable perspectives for anyone interested in global health, trauma systems, or surgical capacity-building.
