Welcome to the last JTI newsletter of 2024! In this edition, we break down the numerous activities of the last few months at JTI and highlight some standout work.
Study Update: Use of advanced magnetic resonance imaging to diagnose brachial plexus injuries and inform surgical intervention
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is currently used to help diagnose brachial plexus injuries, but traditional imaging protocols do not deliver the depth of information required by clinicians due to the complex ramified structure and the location of the brachial plexus. The Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF) secured a loan from Siemens Healthcare for an advanced MRI protocol, ‘SMS-RESOLVE diffusion imaging sequence’. The study’s hypothesis is that the information provided by the new protocol will significantly aid with clinical decision-making.
Electric Personal Mobility Devices Surveillance patient survey study demonstrates that reform urgently needed to reduce serious e-scooter injuries
Research between Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation and conducted by the Jamieson Trauma Institute, is demonstrating that reform is needed to address the seriousness of life-changing injuries on private and hired e-scooters.
