Dr Andrew Foster Awarded the Best Scientific Registrar Paper at the Australian Orthopaedic Association Queensland Branch Meeting 2020.

Doctor Andrew Foster was awarded the prize for the best basic science registrar paper at this year’s Australian Orthopaedic Association Queensland Branch Meeting. The award, named in memory of Bill Crawford, was presented by Professor Ross Crawford on the weekend at the Gold Coast meeting. Andrew is completing a PhD at the Queensland University of Technology on orthopaedic infection while working as a clinical research fellow and Principal House Officer at the Jamieson Trauma Institute and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. The research project was completed at the AO Research Institute in Davos, Switzerland, and uses preclinical in vitro and animal models to investigate the use of bacteriophages as a novel treatment for infectious complications following orthopaedic surgery. The award will fund him to present the work at the national meeting in Melbourne next year.  Andrew will continue working with the Jamieson Trauma Institute to complete his PhD in addition to clinical training.
