Dr Panos Barlas

Panos trained as a physiotherapist in both Greece and Northern Ireland, where he completed his DPhil at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.

Before moving to Brisbane in February 2021, Panos had an academic career as a lecturer and Senior Research Lecturer in Coventry University and Keele University. There, he led postgraduate modules on pain physiology and management and was involved in several research projects and clinical trials on the management of musculoskeletal pain.

He is currently a Principal Research Fellow at the Jamieson Trauma Institute, leading a number of projects including the SMART ankle project on the use of technology in the rehabilitation of ankle fractures. He is also the Project Manager for the HCF funded RIME (Reinforcing informed medication prescription for low back pain in the emergency department (RIME): a controlled interrupted time-series implementation) study.

He is a member of Metro North Human Research Ethics Committee and the Metro North Allied Health Research Committee where he leads the Research Support group. Panos is an AHPRA and HCPC (UK) registered Physiotherapist.
