Dr Tanya Smyth

Dr Tanya Smyth is a research project manager, currently on secondment from her role as Principal Behavioural Scientist at the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Tanya completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and PhD at QUT. Her PhD research was an internationally collaborative investigation, funded by a National Health & Medical Research Council scholarship, of the effectiveness of prescription medicine warnings about driving. She was awarded a post-doctoral Fellowship at McGill University, Canada, where she conducted research within an interdisciplinary team on impaired driving.

She has experience in conducting and managing research in international academic settings, as well as state Government, where she also obtained experience and post-graduate training in policy analysis and development. Tanya has a keen interest in furthering research and facilitating research and policy collaboration in alignment with the Institute’s strategic priorities.
