Thesis title: Treatment of orthopaedic device-related infection with retained implants
Thesis Summary: Prosthetic Joint Infection carries high risk of morbidity and mortality for patients. Treatment is often complex, with significant psychosocial impacts and heavy cost for our health system. Increasing rates of joint replacement in the aging Australian population make improving treatment through new local therapy options and improved clinician decision making vital. Using large, linked data sets, this research aims to improve understanding in treatment outcomes of different surgical and antibiotic treatment strategies.
