Professor Claire Rickard

Conjoint Professor of Infection Prevention and Vascular Access, UQ and HeIDI

Prof Rickard is a registered nurse and the world’s highest cited researcher for the topics “Phlebitis; Catheters; Cannulas” and “Central Venous Catheters; Catheter Infections; Vascular Access Devices” (SciVal). She founded AVATAR (the Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research) clinical trials network which has members and collaborators worldwide. A leading clinical trialist, she has completed 45 randomised controlled trials with >15,000 patients randomised in Australia and Brazil. Prof Rickard has been recognised as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame.
