QUT Real Health Panel Series – Navigating Trauma Care: Complexity, Costs, and Collaborative Solutions

This panel discussion brought together leading clinicians, patients with lived experience, researchers, rehabilitation engineers, and insurance scheme regulators to outline the complexities of traumatic injury care, rehabilitation, and the escalating associated costs.

The expert panel discussed the multifaceted clinical pathways required to manage severe injuries, including advances in acute interventions, long-term rehabilitation, and the integration of emerging technologies and psychosocial supports. The conversation highlighted the financial and operational pressures facing hospitals and health systems, alongside the broader societal and economic impacts of trauma.
