Antenatal Day Assessment Service

The Antenatal Day Assessment Service (ANDAS) provides specialist care for women during pregnancy. If you have, or if you develop, pregnancy related health issues during your pregnancy you may be asked to attend ANDAS.

The service is staffed by midwives who provide holistic care in a supportive environment attached to the Maternity ward. They work closely with doctors to monitor the ongoing well-being of you and your baby. ANDAS care is provided in conjunction with your care in the antenatal clinic when closer monitoring, investigation or decision making is required.

Our services

The ANDAS team diagnose, treat and manage the care of women throughout pregnancy. Health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia may occur or your baby may require closer monitoring of growth or decreased movements.

Appointments

Visiting ANDAS can take time while test results are sought and investigations take place. You may need a regular appointment scheduled to monitor your baby, blood or blood pressure. Check with staff regarding the likely length of stay. Consider asking friends or family to assist you with childcare otherwise your family if welcome to support you during your stay in ANDAS.
