Site Activity Update – Monday 7 to Friday 18 March 2022

Weather event and site safety

The project team has been responding to the flooding and extreme weather that impacted South East Queensland with the safety of our people our number one priority. The construction sites have been inspected to assess any risks before recommencing works. Some activities have resumed and we anticipate full works will recommence as normal from today (07/03).

Permanent power connection works for new Clinical Services Building

Works to connect permanent power supply for the new Clinical Services Building are scheduled to commence from today (07/03) (weather permitting). The first stage of this work involves an under-bore near the south-eastern corner of the McKean Street roundabout across to the north-eastern side to connect existing conduits.

Temporary changes to the footpath on either side of McKean Street will be in place during these works to ensure pedestrians can safely move around the worksites. There will be no impact to traffic. Please see below map for details:

Caboolture Hospital Site Redevelopment map - 7 March 2022

What to expect:

  • An under-bore rig, vac-truck and equipment set-up outside the Multi-Storey Carpark site.
  • A receival worksite on the northern corner of McKean Street and on Mewett Street.
  • Slight change to footpath locations with signage and a traffic controller in place to safely direct pedestrians. Access will be maintained at all times.
  • Traffic signage in place on Mewett Street, McKean Street and Central Lakes Drive.
  • Work commencing from today (07/03) for approximately two weeks (weather permitting).
  • If this activity is delayed due to weather, it will take place on the next available workday.

Clinical Services Building and Central Energy Building sites

Construction activities:

  • Installation of precast planks for the internal hospital access road.
  • Construction of suspended slabs on Levels 3 and 4. Works include scaffold erection, formwork placement, reinforcement installation and concrete pouring.
  • Formwork, reinforcement and concrete pour activities for lift cores, stair cores and walls for the new Clinical Services Building.
  • Initial fitout and façade activities including installation of high-level services for hydraulics, mechanical, fire protection and electrical.
  • Scaffold erection and commencement of blockwork for the Central Energy Building.
  • Installation of inground tanks. 

What to expect:

Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

Multi-Storey Carpark site

Ongoing construction activities:

  • Installation of Level 3 suspended slabs.
  • Ongoing perimeter scaffold erection.
  • Formwork, reinforcement and concrete pour activities for lift cores and stair cores.

What to expect:

  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

Building and Engineering Maintenance Services (BEMS) Building site

Construction activities:

  • Delivery of structural steel which will be used to frame the new BEMS Building.
  • Crane mobilisation into the BEMS construction site. 
  • Excavation and installation of ground beams.
  • Civil infrastructure activities, including stormwater and drainage works.

What to expect:

  • Minor traffic delays to the hospital’s internal access road during the crane mobilisation and steel deliveries. Two-way traffic will be maintained under traffic control.
  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

New storage facilities site (western side of hospital campus)

Construction activities:

  • Excavation and installation of footings and slab. Works include formwork placement, reinforcement installation and concrete pouring.

What to expect:

  • Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration impacts. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

Site establishment works for loading dock (southern side of hospital campus)

Construction activities:

  • Extension works for the existing loading dock, located on the southern side of the hospital campus, near the public carpark, will commence from today (07/03) (weather permitting).
  • Works include the installation of temporary fencing and initial services activities.

What to expect:

  • Increased construction activity and vehicle movements in this area.

The project team is adhering to the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 restrictions and essential works will continue onsite with all safety measures implemented. We continue to monitor and respond to all COVID-19 updates and requirements as per the Public Health Directions from the Chief Health Officer.
