Associate Professor Martin Batstone

Clinical Lead, Facial  Stream; Director, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Martin completed his Medical and Dental degrees at the University of Queensland and was a graduate of the Queensland Oral and Maxillofacial surgery training program. This was followed by three years of additional training in head and neck cancer surgery in Liverpool in the UK culminating in a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Martin’s current roles include Director of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Maxillofacial Unit and Member of the Queensland Regional Surgical Committee which supervises OMS training in Queensland. Martin is a Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society.

Martin has a keen interest in research having completed a Masters of Philosophy and having supervised multiple past and present research postgraduate students. He practices the whole scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a special interest in head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgery.
