The Herston Biofabrication Institute (HBI) advances cutting-edge research in 3D scanning, modelling, and printing of medical devices and human tissue, addressing the urgent clinical need for more effective and personalised treatment options for patients with trauma, cancer, infection, congenital defects, and degenerative disease. Embedded within a unique clinically integrated environment, HBI researchers work alongside clinicians, industry partners, and consumer advocates to accelerate the translation of biofabrication science directly into patient care. Anchored by the complementary strengths of The University of Queensland’s global research excellence and Metro North Health’s unparalleled clinical scale and patient access, HBI is building Australia’s research capability and impact in biofabrication.
