How can biofab improve patient outcomes?
Transcript
The interest in trying to produce devices that serve the same purpose but are more intrinsically a part of the patient to solve the given complex clinical problems is really important so that we can improve the longevity of the reconstructive maneuvers that we undertake.
So that means that if, for example, a patient has an implanted device, the chances of that failing over the life of the patient become considerably reduced.
So if we can remove that morbidity associated with those treatments, that’s obviously much better for the individual patient.
It’s also better for the community, because if patients can recover more quickly from their surgery and have a longer lasting solution to their problem, they’re better able to engage with the community and less reliant on their social supports.
