Student Project: Exploring 3D Printed Prosthetic eyes
Name: Jesse Pickering, Bachelor of Industrial Design (Griffith University)
Project Title: 3D Printing a Prosthetic Eye”3D Modelling and Biofabrication
Supervisor: Dr James Novak
During my student placement with HBI, I had the opportunity to explore the potential of 3D printing a prosthetic eye. Throughout this project, I learned a great deal about biofabrication and the complexities involved in designing and 3D printing complex anatomical structures. My primary task was to 3D model the eye with different variations to determine the best attributes to combine into a final model. It was exciting to see the final product 3D printed using a Stratasys J750 3D printer.
Overall, this experience has sparked my interest in the field of biomedical design, and I hope to continue working in this field when the opportunities are available.
