Dr Kevin Tetsworth has earned a sterling international reputation in orthopaedic surgery, following 30 years of experience managing highly complex limb reconstruction. He is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading experts in multiple areas, including deformity correction, limb lengthening, post-traumatic limb salvage and reconstruction, chronic osteomyelitis, bone defects, difficult infected revision joint arthroplasty, and osseointegration for the reconstruction of amputated limbs.
Dr Tetsworth was an early adopter of 3D printing and modelling, active in this field since 2013. He has a number of diverse interests including the molecular biology of bone healing, scaffolds and tissue engineering, the prevention and treatment of orthopaedic infections, biomarkers, biomechanics, and implant development.
Dr Tetsworth is a past President of ASAMI International, the major society devoted to limb lengthening, deformity correction, and reconstruction. He has been president of the Australian Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society for the past 14 years. He previously served on the International Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and now serves on the International Committee for the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He is currently the chair of the AAOS Clinical Practice Guidelines committee, drafting policies to reduce post-traumatic surgical site infections. He has more than 190 publications, including 16 book chapters and over 120 peer-reviewed papers with close to 4,000 citations. A popular speaker, he has presented almost 800 formal lectures at nearly 300 conferences in 29 countries on 6 continents.
