Professor Owen Ung

Professor of Surgery, UQ Medicine & Visiting Specialist Surgeon RBWH & STARS

Owen is a breast and endocrine surgeon (MBBS, FRACS, FAICD) and Director of the Metro North Comprehensive Breast Cancer Institute.  He is a committed clinician, researcher and educator. His clinical interests are breast cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Owen’s professional representations include:

• Federal Council for the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).
• Director Medical Insurance Australia (MIGA).
• President Elect and executive member of Breast Surgery International (BSI) of the International Surgical Society (ISS).

Owen has obtained extensive administrative and management experience through his various clinical leadership roles and is active on numerous State and National Committees.
