Medical education

We provide strong theoretical and practical support while providing clinical autonomy. In addition to general education lunchtime sessions (including grand rounds), the hospital has a vigorous postgraduate education program with tutorial and teaching sessions available in most units. This involves local and visiting guest lecturers, an open style that allows easy communication among all levels of staff and the promotion of team spirit in a personal, friendly environment. We have a library on-site with Internet access for electronic journals.

Intern education includes:

  • a full weekly education program including intern only education, grand rounds, journal clubs and unit tutorials with hands on practical sessions
  • large number of supervisors to support your ongoing training
  • full week intern orientation prior to starting, including ALSi, practical skills and shadowing with another 2 weeks ongoing orientation during working hours
  • 2 hours of protected education for Interns per week including practical skills and ward call scenarios.

Interns are support by 2 part-time Medical Education Officers (MEOs) and 2 part-time Directors of Clinical Training (DCTs) on site.
