If you're looking for inspiration from a master of mind and fitness, Jamie is the guy to keep an eye on! 💪 🙂‍↕️

Jamie is one of our Security team who has worked at Caboolture Hospital and now at the Satellite Health Centre.

Jamie's fitness was in his words, below average, and at an age when most people's health begins to decline, he took it upon himself to turn his attitude to fitness around. The result? Entering into the Masters League competition for over 35-year-olds and being name the fittest in Queensland in the 50+ years category last year. 🏆

"I want simply to help all Metro North Health employees and the public to understand that we, Queensland Health, can be more of a positive part in people's lives with the right attitude," he said.

👏Shoutout Saturday to Jamie for his commitment to health, both personally and professionally.

Jamie and some colleagues went above and beyond to make sure my cousin and I along with our 2 young children (2yr & 11 month old) were comfortable and dry after sudden torrential rain began while we were getting the kids out of the car to walk inside. By the time we made it in we were all saturated from head to toe. We were greeted inside immediately by Jaime and colleagues holding towels and warm blankets for us. They were so kind, helpful and friendly. Kiera and I were so grateful! Thanks again Jamie and lads. 🙂 🙏🏻

Exceptional human inside and out 💪

Well done! 💪🏼

The best!

Good work Special K 🍻👍

Love it!!!

Caboolture patient Roze’s aspiration journey is helping researchers build an app that will diagnose other children with the same condition, all throughout the world. 👏🤳

Six-year-old Roze was born at Caboolture Hospital and was experiencing ongoing respiratory and feeding difficulties, which explains years of illness, fatigue and repeated infections.

Following investigations, clinicians found a deep interarytenoid groove, (also known as a minor laryngeal cleft,) that causes Roze to aspirate fluids into her airway. This means food or fluids sometimes enter her airway when swallowing, which can lead to serious short and long-term lung disease in children. 🗣️

Roze and her mum Emma are now contributing to a study at Caboolture Hospital where the team, led by Adj Assoc Prof Thuy Frakking, are developing a digital app to diagnose swallowing impairment.

“The development of an accurate algorithm to classify aspiration in children will help progress to the development of an app that families and clinicians can access worldwide without the need for x-ray,” Adj Assoc Prof Frakking said.

Well done Roze and Em.

This is awesome! Good work!!

Have friends in New Zealand with a 7 month old who is going through this. After 3.5 months in Nicu, he went home, still with a feeding tube. They wait, after interventionist surgery, treatments etc to see if there is any reflex, then get then to introduction of solids, if they can start exercising their mouth, tongue, throat & oesophagus with pureed foods, swallow adequately, clear their mouth, airway- got to make sure food goes down the right pipe - not the airway & lungs

Andrew Palombo wow look at this accomplishment and advancement, how amazing !

Well done young lady for helping others

Amazing! Great work ❤️💜

Families in Brisbane's North will be grinning from ear to ear to learn a new Community Health Screening Program (CHSP) is almost up and running. 👂😃

Come February, families who haven't had the opportunity to check their children's hearing can do so within easy reach of home.

Jed is a Clinical Assistant in Audiology and will be visiting sites in the community, assessing children's hearing with his portable audiometric screening equipment. 🎧

"Children aged between nine months and 16 years living in the Caboolture, Redcliffe, Deception Bay, Kilcoy and surrounding areas will now be able have their hearing screened in an accessible location, outside of the hospital," shares Jed.

"It's a great way to identify any potential issues and can guide families regarding the need for further testing."

More information on the Community Hearing Screening Program can be found on the website via the link in the comments. 👇👇👇

Metro North Health no link?

Awesome cause majority of jearing places in these areas dont do kids

If your child has been screened a few times publicly and through private providers to find they have perfect hearing. Would Jed also be able to assess for auditory processing difficulties?

This should be introduced into primary schools at the same time as the eye screening test.

Great initiative but you should have given more thought to name. CHSP is widely known as Commonwealth Home Support Program. Prepare yourself for a lot irrelevant enquires. Just saying!

YES

Is this a service that could visit a local community kindergarten?
