Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit
The Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU) provides a safe and structured environment and 24-hour clinical support for people over the age of 18 years with persistent and disabling symptoms of mental illness.
People admitted to the unit have schizophrenia or related psychosis and mood disorders. We also see people with complex presentations such as personality disorders, drug and alcohol disorders, complex trauma and clinically significant deficits in psychosocial functioning.

- extended-care mental health inpatient services 24 hours, 7 days a week
 - a specialised secure environment
 - contemporary, high quality and multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to assist consumers to recover from mental illness and to gain skills needed to live in a less restrictive setting.
 
How to access this service
Admission to the Secure Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit is limited to those who are open to a mental health service, following case discussion by the referral committee. Your mental health clinician will discuss the referral package with you.
