Bring Your Own Cup
Caboolture Hospital Acting Nurse Navigator Jonnel Boco made one small change that is having a big impact on the planet.
Jonnel joined the Caboolture Hospital Green Team in 2020 to become more eco-friendly and reduce his personal carbon footprint.
Realising he used an average of three polystyrene cups a day, Jonnel made the switch and brought in his own mug which he reuses every day.
Jonnel estimates that in just three months, he saved an astonishing 440 polystyrene cups simply by using his own cup.
Jonnel is now looking for the next change he can make to improve his green credentials at work and at home.
Polystyrene is extremely harmful to the environment. It is slow to degrade and can cause chemicals to contaminate water sources.
The production of polystyrene cups is estimated to release approximately 21 million tons of CO2 equivalent into the atmosphere.
So why not use your own cup? It’s one of the biggest little things you can do to help the planet.
