Star bakers raise funds for the RBWH Foundation

Baking enthusiasts had a chance to show off their skills at the recent inaugural STARS Cupcake Competition and Bake Sale. There were some amazing creative entries in the best decorating category from the facility's very talented staff. The theme 'celestial' had many interpretations including Star Wars, solar systems and of course, stars.
The best tasting category had some very delicious entries with flavours such as mocha, strawberry, lemon meringue and orange and pistachio. Those with special dietary requirements didn't miss out either with vegan, gluten free and egg, nut and dairy free cupcake options.
The winners of the Best Decorated competition were Alison Pickering (1st), Roxanne Edwards-McGuire (2nd) and Abrianna Edmans (3rd).
The winners of the Best Tasting competition were Apala Seeto (1st), Roxanne Edwards McGuire (2nd) and Kirsten Braun (3rd).
The Bake Sale was a huge success with the majority of cupcakes sold out in under 40 minutes. All the proceeds from the Bake Sale went to the RBWH Foundation, with over $500 raised. The money raised will go towards advancing patient care and life-saving research in the Herston Health Precinct.
Thank you to staff who baked cupcakes and made a purchase on the day and to our judges Tamsin Mahoney, Ben Hackwood, Steph Miller and Simone Garske (both RBWH Foundation). Thanks also to the RBWH Foundation and the STARS Staff Council for providing the competition prizes.
