Professor Julie McGaughran
Clinical Geneticist
Professor Julie McGaughran is the Director of Genetic Health QLD. She trained in the UK came to Brisbane in 2001. She has a special interest in rare paediatric genetic conditions, cardiac genetics, and health planning for clinical genetics services.
She is the state clinical lead for Australian Genomics Health Alliance and Australian Genomics 2. She is the state chief investigator for the Australian Reproductive Carrier Screening programme (Mackenzie’s Mission) and the national co-lead for the AGHA cardiovascular flagship. She co-founded the Statewide cardiac genetics service. She is co-lead of the Australian Genomics clinical, diagnostic and research network
She is a member of the RACP paediatrics and child health council and a former board member of RACP. She is a past president of the Human Genetic Society of Australasia and a former council member of the European Society of Human Genetics. She is a current member of the Genomic Executive Working group and WGS programme steering committee. She is a CI on a number of MRFF national projects and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications across many areas of clinical genetics.
