Neonatal Retrieval Service (NeoRESQ)

NeoRESQ is the neonatal retrieval service that supports regional centres in central and south east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

We transport premature or critically ill babies to life-saving treatment. We understand it is a very stressful time for parents to find out their baby is unwell. You can be assured that your baby is travelling with a team of highly skilled doctors and nurses who specialise in caring for newborn, sick and preterm infants.

Whether it is by road ambulance, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft, we are committed to ensuring your baby arrives safely at a specialised neonatal or paediatric care unit.

Our services

The centralised retrieval service is coordinated at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Neonatology Department with neonatal retrievals being undertaken by staff from both the RBWH and Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

We provide a single contact number for neonatal advice and retrieval coordination. Our NeoRESQ teams provide telemedicine support, resuscitation, stabilisation and education to regional centres during and after retrievals.

We partner with Retrieval Services Queensland, Queensland Ambulance Service, Life Flight, Queensland Government Air and Royal Flying Doctors Service.

Where will my baby be transferred to?

Your baby will go to a tertiary care centre that matches their needs. This could be:

  • Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital
