Associate Professor Tanya Kairn
Principal Physicist, Radiation Oncology, Cancer Care Services, RBWH
A/Prof Tanya Kairn is the Principal Physicist, Chief Radiation Safety Officer and Clinical Physics Training Co-ordinator for Cancer Care Services at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. A/Prof Kairn has published more than 100 journal articles, given numerous proffered and invited conference presentations, and supervised 12 Medical Physics Masters students and 4 PhD students to completion. A/Prof Kairn’s research covers a broad range of topics including the development of methods to improve the accuracy and reliability of radiation measurements made using radio-sensitive gels and films, as well as the use of electronic detectors for stereotactic and small field dosimetry, but her most important recent work has been focused on the valuable clinical information that can be gained by investigating trends in large radiotherapy treatment planning and quality assurance data sets.
