The Allied Health Research Collaborative (AHRC)

Enabling people to live healthy, happy and productive lives away from the hospital setting

Who are we?

Our vision is to enable people to live healthy, happy and productive lives away from the hospital setting. To achieve this, we bring together clinicians from Allied Health, Medicine and Nursing to help translate our research findings into clinical practice and strengthen the evidence base for hospital and integrated healthcare practice. We are also focused on building the research capability of clinical staff at TPCH, Metro North and across Queensland Health.

AHRC grant recipients

AHRC is proud to sponsor our innovative Allied Health Projects. Nearly $80,000 has been awarded to support Allied Health researchers.

Allied Health Research Impact

Below are some of the research highlights from the TPCH AHRC and Allied Health Department.

In 2024, AHRC and Allied Health researchers at TPCH published over 70 peer reviewed manuscripts and were Investigators on new grants totaling over $7M dollars.  New research funding was awarded to Allied Health researchers from a range of agencies including the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Medical Research Future Fund, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, and Collaborative for Allied Health Research, Learning and Innovation (CAHRLI).  The group supervised over 30 higher degree research students (PhD and masters), with three students completing their PhD/Masters in 2024.

For patients and consumers

In TPCH, the health needs of our patients drive our research focus. As a patient or a health care consumer in Metro North you may be asked to participate in research or clinical trials. The Metro North ‘for patients and consumers’ website provides information about participating in research.
