Associate Professor Peter Lazzarini

Pete is an Associate Professor of Diabetes Foot Disease at The Prince Charles Hospital and Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. After practicing as a podiatrist for over 10 years, Pete started his research career in 2011, was awarded his PhD in 2016, a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Early Career Fellowship in 2017, an Associate Professor at QUT in 2020 and a NHMRC Investigator Grant Fellowship in 2024. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed papers, has a h-index of 42, attracted over $10 million in grant funding, and supervised 17 PhD/MPhil students. Pete has evolved into the number 6 researcher in the world for the diabetes foot disease field according to Expertscape, has chaired multiple committees, such as Diabetes Feet Australia and International Diabetes Foot Disease Guidelines Working Groups, and has been recognised with various awards, such as the 2023 Top International Rising Star and Top Study in the field awards of the past 4 years by the International Diabetic Foot Symposium.
