Professor Norman Morris

Norm Morris is a physiotherapist who holds a joint research position as Professor (Cardiothoracic) at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Norm works with a range of clinicians and researchers examining factors that limit, and interventions that improve, exercise tolerance in individuals with chronic heart and lung disease. This research is undertaken in both clinical and laboratory-based settings. Recently his program of research has begun to focus on the impact of the changing climate on health, particularly in vulnerable populations such as chronic heart and lung disease. Norm has supervised over 25 higher degree students to completion, 15 of these were clinicians led research projects. To date he has supervised 8 clinical staff at TPCH to completion. Norm’s program of research is funded through a number of agencies including The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, The National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia and the Wellcome Trust, United Kingdom and has authored over 135 peer reviewed manuscripts and book chapters.
