STARS welcomes new nursing lead
The Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) has welcomed new Director of Nursing Ben Ballard to the team.
Ben is no stranger to Metro North Health, having started his nursing career as a new graduate in the RBWH surgical wards before a stint with the National Health Service in London.
Most recently been the Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Caboolture & Kilcoy Hospitals and Woodford Corrections Health, and has also worked in Assistant Nursing Director and Nursing Director roles in clinical effectiveness and workforce in RBWH, TPCH and Metro North.
“The Metro North values that underpin my leadership style are integrity and respect. I believe these attributes support bringing a diversity of individual expertise to the table for teams to make the best decisions to deliver high quality care for our community,” Ben said.
“I believe in empowering staff to be the best they can be in their roles and to work collaboratively to provide the best possible patient care.”
Since commencing the new role, Ben has been impressed with the team environment at STARS.
“It is a fantastic place to work with friendly staff and a really dynamic environment – a great platform for delivering healthcare services,” Ben said.
“I look forward to continuing to develop models of care that are collaborative and integrative to support a seamless patient journey.”
When not at work Ben enjoys hanging out with his family and dog, as well as cycling, camping, and gardening.
