The Metro North Board held its meeting at STARS – Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service, Herston on 27 January 2026

A summary of the meeting is provided below.

• The Board acknowledged the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Jagera, Turrbul, Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples on whose lands Metro North Health delivers its services.
• Board members met consumers from the STARS Education & Research Alliance and also met with staff from various teams within STARS.  
• The Board noted reports from the Board Chair and Acting Chief Executive and approved the Risk Appetite Statement and the Sustainability Plan. The Board also noted information from Queensland Health on cancer care services and received a presentation from Queensland Ambulance Service.
• The Board noted the Patient Safety and Quality Committee Report and reports on People and Culture, Financial and Operations performance.
• The Chief Digital Health Officer a Strategic AI roadmap and the Board endorsed the principles of the Metro North Health Service Plan which sets out a 15 year roadmap for whole of service transformation to 2041 to deliver health care in line with projected population growth.
• Update from the Chair Metro North Clinical Council on council priorities.
• Updates were received from Board Committee Chairs of the Safety and Quality Committee, Finance and Performance Committee, Board Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equity Advisory Committee, Board Consumer and Community Engagement Committee, as well as the board representatives on the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation.
• Reports were noted on the following topics: Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project; ieMR implementation; Communications including campaigns, social media and online; and the Metro North Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Clinical Services Plan 2025-2030.

The next board meeting will be held on 24 February 2026 at Green Square which includes teams from Finance, Strategy & Planning, Infrastructure and Clinical Services.
