Metro North Health Cancer Care Clinical Services Plan 2026-2036 background planning

The consultation phase for the planning stage of the Metro North Cancer Care Clinical Services Plan (CCCSP) 2026–2036 has now closed

Stakeholder insights gathered during the September–October consultation period will play a vital and strategic role in shaping the future of cancer care across Metro North. These contributions will inform key priorities, guide service planning, and ensure that the CCCSP reflects the needs and expectations of patients, clinicians, and the broader community.

Throughout the consultation period, we undertook an extensive engagement program to ensure broad representation and input. This included more than 22 hours of stakeholder briefings, reaching over 300 individual stakeholders across diverse roles and disciplines.

These sessions provided valuable opportunities for discussion and collaboration, while also serving as an informal source of feedback. All feedback was systematically captured in a consultation register, ensuring transparency and enabling its consideration in shaping the final recommendations.

Additionally, over 60 Queensland Health staff, consumers and health service partners completed an online survey, which has provided valuable perspectives on the Service Needs Assessment Background Paper and future service directions.

This feedback has now been summarised to reflect the collective opinions and experiences of our diverse stakeholder group. The conclusion emphasises the need for evidence-based, inclusive, and future-focused planning to ensure high-quality, accessible, and sustainable cancer care throughout the state.

All stakeholder feedback will continue to guide our strategic directions as we work to harness opportunities that will enable us to:

  • Deliver high-quality, safe, and timely care.
  • Improve health outcomes and equity across all populations.
  • Make Metro North Health a great place to work.
  • Maximise the value of public health resources.

Sincere thanks are extended to all Queensland Health staff who contributed to this consultation. Your commitment, expertise, and pursuit of excellence were instrumental in shaping the outcomes of this process and ensuring alignment with our shared goals.

We also appreciated the opportunity to engage with a broad range of health service partners including general practitioners, non-government health partners and consumers. Your insights and lived experiences added a valuable personal dimension to this process.

Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your input is shaping the future of cancer care in our region.
