What is happening?
Caboolture Hospital drop-off zone closes
The Caboolture Hospital drop-off zone at the front main entry will close to all vehicles this Tuesday, 1 September.
All vehicles dropping off or picking up patients at the hospital will be directed to a new emergency drop-off/pick-up location.
The new emergency drop-off/pick-up location, including a new short-term carpark, is directly opposite the ambulance parking bays outside the Emergency Department.
What to expect:
- Taxis, ride-share companies and all patient transport companies dropping off or picking up non-urgent members of the public will need to use the new emergency drop-off/pick-up location which is short-term parking only.
Preparation for further demolition work near Hospital Main Entry (1 September – October 2020)
A new covered walkway has been installed into the hospital’s front main entry. The covered walkway will ensure the safety of pedestrians and workers when demolition activities start at the front of the hospital, including demolition of the internal stairwell alongside the Emergency Department.
The internal stairwell will close in early September with scaffolding erected around the exterior in preparation for demolition.
What to expect:
- All patients and visitors enter the hospital via the front main entry will need to enter via the covered walkway to ensure the safety and separation of hospital patrons from the construction site.
- All pedestrians will need to sign-in at the COVID-19 concierge desk at the front main entry and follow advice around restrictions impacting patient and visitor access to the hospital.
Ongoing changes to traffic movement around the hospital ring road (September – October 2020)
As part of the redevelopment works, pedestrians and motorists will experience ongoing changes to traffic conditions along the hospital ring road.
Single lane traffic will always be maintained with traffic control in place to ensure the safe and adequate flow of both traffic and pedestrian movement.
What to expect:
- Some pedestrian and traffic diversion along the hospital ring road
- Active traffic management in place, emergency vehicle access will be prioritised
- Visitors to the hospital may experience some minor delays due to lane closures and truck movement around the construction site.
Ongoing road works along McKean Street (September 2020 – February 2021)
Work continues along McKean Street to prepare for a new signalised intersection that will service the Caboolture Hospital site. Construction activity currently taking place includes:
- Permanent removal of on-street parking
- Cut over from old to new water main
- Removal of old water main.
What to expect:
- Neighbours may experience some noise, dust and vibration during excavation phase.
- Temporary closures of the main footpath bridge between the hospital main entry and McKean Street.
- Pedestrians entering the hospital campus via McKean Street will be required to enter from the western end, traversing past Mental Health to the hospital’s front main entry.
- Some pedestrian and traffic diversion along McKean Street
- Two-way traffic will always be maintained on McKean Street.
New Main Entry at back of Caboolture Hospital (late September)
From end of September 2020, the main entry into Caboolture Hospital will relocate to the back of the hospital.
What to expect:
- All non-urgent patients, visitors and staff will enter through the Temporary Main Entry, which includes a new patient drop-off/pick-up zone, a volunteers booth, a food truck, maps and directional signage.
- As part of this change, public carparking will also be relocated to the rear of the hospital.
- Patients and visitors arriving by car should enter the hospital via the All Weather Access Road off Mewett Street and continue past the Temporary Staff Carpark. The public carpark can also be accessed via Bury Street.
- Emergency patient drop off, including dropping off mothers in active labour, will still be located at the front of the hospital with vehicle access from McKean Street.
