A very special Easter delivery has arrived at Caboolture Hospital💛

Baby Kyinzi was born on 24 March, weighing 3920g and measuring 58cm — and already skipping straight into size 000!

For parents Deki and Sonam, welcoming their daughter marks the end of a long-awaited and joyful journey. The couple, originally from Bhutan, chose her names that are rich in meaning and tradition, usually after a monk.

“Her first name means ‘god of compassion’ and her middle name means ‘moon goddess’,” Sonam said.

With hopes of heading home soon, the new family is looking forward to a special first celebration together.

“We don’t have big plans yet, but we’re just so excited to take her home and spend our first Easter as a family,” Deki said.

Welcome to the world, Kyinzi. 💕

This Easter weekend, the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Service (GEMS) at Caboolture will be filled with more than just chocolate eggs, with the ward also brimming with expert care and heartfelt gestures. 🐰💚

Clinical Nurse Rosaline describes how special it is to work in such a compassionate team with the shared goal of helping patients regain independence and support goals of returning home or transitioning into ongoing care.

"It’s a privilege to walk alongside patients and families during vulnerable moments, offering kindness, dignity, and connection while being part of a supportive and empathetic team," she said.

"Celebrations can be emotionally difficult for patients who are away from home, so we try to bring a sense of warmth, normalcy, and connection into the ward.

"We’ll be sharing Easter eggs and little chocolates, organising family lunches in our courtyard, and wearing fun Easter‑themed scrubs. These small gestures often create big moments of comfort, especially for patients who may feel a little lonely during the holiday period."

If there is a lock to be fixed or a wall to be patched at Caboolture Hospital, first-year Apprentice Carpenter Jasmine is on the job. 🔨👷

To support the safe and smooth operation of facilities used by staff and patients every day, Jasmine helps to maintain essential infrastructure across the hospital.

“I assist with maintaining different parts of the hospital and that can be anything from moving and installing furniture to fixing doors, locks or windows, patching walls or completing small upgrades to offices and rooms,” Jasmine said.

Jasmine says resilience and self-belief have helped her push forward in her new career, as well as the support from the Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) team.

“They have a wealth of knowledge and it’s awesome to work alongside such strong and resilient women who encourage me to keep pushing myself and getting better every day," she said, of her role models in the BEMS team.

“It’s an awesome feeling to look back at the end of the day and see what you’ve completed. It’s even better knowing that the projects I help finish improve this facility and make people’s lives a little easier, no matter how small.”
