A cancer diagnosis is hard to come to terms with, but a new service providing free transport to and from the RBWH is removing the stress of getting to and from appointments. 🚐

Morayfield mum of four, Catherine, was one of the first patients to use the new 'Transport to Treatment' service, a free weekday shuttle to help residents in the Caboolture area get to and from their cancer treatment at RBWH.

💖 This service has been made possible thanks to contributions from the Hornery Family, the RBWH Foundation, Cancer Care Services at RBWH and Cancer Council Queensland.

"I was really nervous about having my treatment, but it was one less thing to worry about when I heard about this service," Catherine said.

"I'm so glad the service allowed Bill to join me for my first appointment here."

"Thank you so much to the Horney family and the RBWH Foundation, and everyone involved for making this possible."

The free transport service is available by referral to those in the Caboolture area undergoing cancer treatment at RBWH.

Francine Louise Street A bit late now, but maybe for the future it might be helpful for any follow-ups ❤️

This would've been great when my Husband was alive.

What a good idea 🤩🤩✔️

This is so so important!!!

Fantastic, I will need this service also, as was stressing about getting in there every day.

When I left the RBH I left behind the only family I cared about.

Such a great initiative

What a wonderful contribution. 🥰🥰🥰

Thanks Metro North Health, my father used this service last year for his prostate cancer treatment, saved all of the stress and hassle of him driving down.

What a wonderful initiative 👏

Good idea. Hope it continues

That’s wonderful news.

They need something like this.

What a wonderful service. Is there anything available like this from Redcliffe to rbwh ?

Good luck Catherine 🥰

Joanne Gough ❤

The future of nurse-led procedures is here, with two gifted stars from Caboolture Hospital paving the way for more timely gastroenterology services across the region. 🤩🙌

Nurses Jincy and Marilyn have been selected as the first in Metro North Health to join the prestigious Queensland Nurse Endoscopist Training Program, marking a major step forward in nurse-led models of care.

👐 Jincy and Marilyn will undertake the two-year program, which combines advanced study with hands-on clinical training, preparing them to independently perform endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies.

“This training will help reduce waitlists and provide faster, high-quality care for patients with gastrointestinal conditions,” Jincy said.

“I’m so excited - we’re reaching milestones I never thought possible, and it’s wonderful to be the first Nurse Practitioner in Metro North to step into this role. We can really make a change and be role models for others wanting to advance their practice.”
