For Caboolture Hospital midwife Alyce, the connection to her workplace goes well beyond her role - having given birth to all three of her children there and been cared for as a patient, by her own colleagues. 🧡
“I was looked after by the people I work alongside every day, which makes it really special,” Alyce said.
“My sister experienced a pregnancy loss 19 years ago and being around that environment made me look towards nursing and midwifery, I knew I wanted to support women through those moments.
“My favourite part is watching first-time parents become a family, I always look at the dad’s reaction too, that’s what really gets me going. Becoming a mother is such a huge transition and every woman’s journey is different."
Alyce is not only my best friend but the most amazing midwife, after doing a shift the night before she rushed to be by my side for the birth of my son. I was so lucky to share this moment with her and feel so safe in her hands.

Scrolling through fb just now and seeing this gorgeous face brought back all the wonderful memories of the birth of my rainbow baby 🌈🩵. Now, 20months old; I still remember Alyce encouraging me to keep going in between the contractions that I felt I had lost all momentum and when I felt I couldn’t give more. Her fierce reminders that I could and would were what lead me to my miracle baby boy. I have tears in my eyes remembering Alyce placing him on my chest with such joy in her eyes. I’m so grateful! 🩵🫶🏽

One of the most beautiful, calming midwives we have had. Alyce was incredible through the birth of our youngest and was there for all of us, including my husband in the miracle of it all. She made it all so special as we welcomed our son into the world together. Such an amazing lady that I have the pleasure of knowing, and from such an incredible team at Caboolture Hospital Maternity Ward ❤️

"I had a stroke in March; I was at the Royal and then transferred to STARS four weeks ago. I do a bit of everything in the gym, and they got me going pretty quick, to the point where last week I was walking by myself. I was driving back from Caboolture and had my stroke when I got home, so it was lucky it didn't happen on the highway. I'm a handyman, I run my business myself, but I'm not sure if I'll get back to that as I'll have to work on my grip. It was very unexpected, but the staff are really good here and the goal is to get better."
